Turkey in 1975. It was one of a dizzying series of leftist Kurdish groups formed during the fervor of the 1960s and 1970s that eventually resulted in the creation of the
Kurdistan Workers Party (
PKK). In its early years the PKK opposed the DDKD, branding it as "social chauvinists" and "national reformists."
